The Djembe is a West African hand drum formed from a solid piece of hardwood with a rope-stretched skin playing surface. It is very popular in drum circles all around the world. The best effects of djembe drumming can be achieved when the drum is played in ensemble with other drums and percussive instruments such as clave or rhythmic bells.
These djembe are beautifully hand-turned from hardwood with a real skin playing surface and synthetic nylon tuning ropes. They are available in one of two sizes from Deep Down Productions. The drums measure between twenty eight and thirty six inches high, with a playing surface twelve to sixteen inches in diameter.
