Expedition to The Lost World Part 1: Winter celebrates a musical moment seventy years in Poland's past with naturalistic recordings of traditional Polish folk music.

This is music from the Polish-Ukranian border, a melting pot of foreign nationalities, cultures and religions. This border has seen some of the most bloody conflict in European history, with a heavy mix of the Catholic, Orthodox and missing Jewish religions. Every town in the Eastern border region has both Catholic and Orthodox churches, as well as lost synagogues. The people who have survived the border rarely look to the past, and even more rarely speak about it. Much of the music of the region is at risk of being forgotten.

Adamów has crafted this disc in the hopes that the historic music of the area will not be lost. Expedition to the Lost World is intended to give a window on the past through the skills of the Sami Swoi ensemble, who have been singing traditional Polish music together for 26 years.
